Everything’s going to be turning over

Where are you going to be standing when it comes?

Circle of Sowers for The New World

A 6-month journey for those who want to prepare themselves as guerrerx/warrior seeds for The New World that is emerging

This circle is for 13 BIPOC folks who want to share, dream, learn, work, practice and grow so we are ready for the New World that is currently being birthed. A prerequisite for this course is reading Parable of the Sower, since we will be using Octavia Butler's teachings as a handbook in this journey. This Circle is about dreaming up what our New World looks like in all forms -- what aspects of Lauren's world seem inevitable and we should prepare for? What was Octavia Trying to Tell Us so we can avoid some of the realities of Lauren's world? Just like the believers of Earthseed, this circle is about sharing and practicing skills we may need to survive in the New World or sow the seeds to create it.

As BIPOC ancestral and herbal medicine workers, Rosi Bustamante and RaheNi Gonzalez I'naru will facilitate this Circle with the intention of sowing and strengthening warriors to be ready to forge our emerging future based on the Medicine Wheel and its four bodies: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, and following our ancestral guides. Participants will develop personal goals that strengthen these four bodies in preparation for the future we are building collaboratively. We invite folks who want to be part of a circle of growth, sharing and exploration, and who commit themselves to be the seeds that will blossom in the future.

See below for more info and to apply - deadline is September 4

This circle is for you if you want to:

  • Delve deep and adopt Octavia Butler’s teachings from the Parable of the Sower and be a strong and resilient warrior for the New World - defend it, work for it, and share your fire to help it rise.

  • Prepare yourself as guerrerxs/warriors for whatever the New World brings us - this is a personal journey where you will develop your own goals to strengthen your body, mind, spirit and emotions. Circle members will support each other in the development and practice of these personal goals.

  • Share your skills and talents with other siblings, to build our personal and communal capacities to survive and thrive in the New World. Examples of shares include: holding space, meditation, dreamwork, healthy and indigenous living practices, mutual aid and organizing, music, childcare, sewing, cooking/baking, growing food and medicine, healing and making medicine, building, languages, art, etc.

Circle’s Intention:

  • To develop ourselves as cosmic guerrerxs/warriors for the New World, of love, of magic medicine, peace protectors

  • To develop our guerrerx/warrior strength at all levels: mind, heart, body and spirit

  • As New World guerrerx/warriors to fight for a world that includes liberation, decolonization, mutual aid and healing of ancestral trauma

  • Circle roots are based on:

    • Parable of the Sower (requirement before starting)

    • Earthseed/Starseeds

    • Zapatistas

    • The Medicine Wheel and indigenous cosmogony

    • Return of the Bird Tribes

    • The 8 Fold Path (wise understanding, wise intention, wise speech, wise action, wise livelihood, wise effort, wise mindfulness, wise concentration)

  • The circle will include:

    • An in-depth discussion of key lessons from Parable of the Sower throughout the 6-months

    • Defining and advancing personal goals on each guerrerx/warrior’s work of being a starseed.

    • Growing together within a system based on sharing our skills, gifts and knowledge, supporting each other in our paths, in a decolonized way

    • Ancestral work - what did our ancestors do? What are they recommending we do?

    • Dream work

    • Authenticity and vulnerability

The Matrix details:

  • BIPOC, with allies by invitation only

  • 13 guerrerxs/warriors will be selected

  • Hours are from 6:30-8:00 pm, online (this might change if we are able to begin meeting in person). The first session (Sept 17) will be from 6:30-8:30 pm.

  • Circle meets every other week for 6 months. The first sessions are scheduled for Thursdays Sept 17, Oct 1 and Oct 22. Subsequent session dates may be changed to fit the needs of the Circle.

  • Love offering: $20-40 sliding scale per session

  • Sessions led by Rosi and RaheNi, but the content will include sharing by all guerrerxs/warriors, acknowledging that we all have gifts and skills to share, and modeling the future we are working for. We look forward to dreaming of ways of growing together, and this model may evolve based on the interests of the Circle.

  • Commitment, growth, confidentiality and support: We are asking applicants to commit to attendance, because we need everyone to hold the Circle’s growth. We hope guerrerxs/warriors practice authenticity, vulnerability, trust and build relationships that continue working together on this New World. All of these are critical parts of the circle and need time to build trust among one another. Also, we acknowledge that preparing ourselves for the future is a process of growth over time. So commitment to this journey is a key ingredient for the guerrerxs/warriors to grow.

  • If you feel called to be part of this journey, please click below to submit your application by midnight on September 4, 2020. Acceptance notifications will be sent out the week of September 7th.
